Kiyoshi Benefit Fund

Last week, just a few miles from where I live, 3 Akitas went missing when the dogs escaped following a car crash on the Interstate. With relentless searching by their family & volunteers from surrounding neighborhoods, all 3 were found within a few days. Two of the dogs were OK. One dog, Kiyoshi, was hit by a car last Wednesday before searchers could grab him.

Kiyoshi is on anti-seizure medication, steroids and antacids. His broken jaw will be in a muzzle sling for the next six to eight weeks. He was also blinded by a skull fracture, but veterinarians believe that he has a chance to regain his sight after the swelling subsides.

The dog's owner, Jillian Coglan, is also recovering from the crash. After finding her three missing dogs, she finally reported to a doctor on Friday to find she had a grade two concussion, whiplash and a partially separated shoulder.

Jill has setup a benefit fund to pay for Kiyoshi's treatment. If you'd like to contribute you can send donations to:

Hills Bank
131 Main Street
Hills, IA 52235

Checks can be made out to "Coglan" with the Kiyoshi Benefit Fund written on the memo line. She and Kiyoshi would be returning to the Ames Small Animal Clinic several times in the coming weeks for treatments.
